“Leipak”: A Clay Sculpture Workshop, facilitated by TinTin Saikhom, is part of Resilient Roots and Healing Hearts, an initiative by Chaoba Thiyam (SIYOM). This workshop is designed for the children and youth of the Mekola Relief Camp, who were displaced by the conflict that erupted in Manipur on May 3, 2023 between Kuki and Meitei community.
We believe that working with clay is much like nurturing a child’s mind—both are soft, full of potential, and capable of being shaped into something beautiful. In our workshop, children are given the opportunity to explore the tactile and creative process of molding clay, allowing their imaginations to flourish.
This experience is more than just fun; it is also therapeutic. As children shape the clay with their hands, they engage in a process that calms the mind, enhances focus, and encourages self-expression. Each sculpture becomes a reflection of their inner world, while the act of creating helps to build confidence and emotional well-being.
At the workshop, we are not just guiding the children in shaping clay—we are helping to mold young minds, nurturing creativity, and providing a joyful, therapeutic environment where they can flourish.
